The “Tassie Devil” was dreamt up over a beer between Father Eddie, and sons Ian and Garth Wigston one Friday night in the late 1970’s. Production finally began in late 1979, with the “original” 13.5 gram lure being the first off the rank and is still the most popular today. The brief was for the lure to consist of a hollow weighted torpedo shaped central core surrounded with plastic including curved wings out each side. A wire loop with hook coupled was to be fitted through the core. Various patterns, colours and designs were to be painted on the exterior. Exporting began to little old New Zealand in 1984 with Kilwell taking over the distribution in the late 1980’s, and we’re proud to be here over 30 year later! Tassies are now exported to over 35 countries worldwide.
